Memorial Day

Monday, May 27th, 2013

During the final Monday of May every year, we commemorate those military personnel who have died in service to their country. Formerly known as Decoration Day, probably because of the way that graveyards were decorated with flowers, Memorial Day came to prominence in the wake of the American Civil War, which left the country war-torn, with many casualties on both sides. Since that time, it has been a day of remembering those who have given up the ultimate sacrifice for their country.

As you go about town on your day off from work, you’ll probably see an abundance of flags and flowers, as well as public commemorations such as parades. While this day has been turned into the last leg of a three-day weekend, it’s important to reflect on the way that our military personnel have shaped our country, and to remember their contribution to the way we live today. We at Bob’s Heating and Air conditioning, wish you all the best on Memorial Day.

Seattle Duct Cleaning FAQ: How Can Duct Cleaning Improve Efficiency?

Monday, February 25th, 2013

One goal that many homeowners share is the attempt to heat and cool their homes in the most efficient way possible. Improving energy efficiency is a great way to both reduce your environmental impact and to save money on energy costs. If you are interested in boosting energy efficiency in your home contact Bob’s Heating & Air Conditioning. Duct cleaning in Seattle may be the solution to your inefficiency problems. Our air duct cleaning experts have the years of training and experience necessary to thoroughly clean your air ducts. Let us help you increase heating and air conditioning efficiency.

If you use a forced air distribution system to circulate conditioned air throughout your home then you rely on the performance of your air ducts more than you may even realize. Every bit of heated and cooled air that you use to keep your home comfortable travels through this distribution system. If there are problems with airflow in this system then your heater and air conditioner must work harder to distribute air throughout your home. The harder your system must work the less efficient it will be.

While it would take a major blockage for dirt and debris to completely restrict the flow of air through your ductwork, there are a number of ways in which it can reduce efficiency. If your air ducts are dirty then they will clog up your air filters more quickly than normal. If your air filters are too dirty they will restrict air flow and increase the strain on your home comfort systems to compensate.

Dirty air ducts will also allow dirt and dust to get into your other HVAC equipment. This can result in decreased efficiency and can even cause damage to your heating and cooling equipment. If you are worried about the condition of your ductwork call the professional duct cleaning technicians at Bob’s Heating & Air Conditioning.

Don’t let dirty air ducts drive up energy costs in your home. Call Bob’s Heating & Air Conditioning today to schedule high-quality duct cleaning services. We’ll help you increase energy efficiency in Seattle.

Seattle Duct Cleaning and Duct Design Tips

Monday, February 18th, 2013

Bob’s Heating & Air Conditioning offers duct design and duct cleaning in Seattle and throughout the surrounding areas. Many homeowners don’t realize the importance of duct design and proper duct cleaning. That’s why we’ve provided this blog post with a list of reasons you should have someone you can trust design and professionally clean the ductwork in your home. Call us if you have further questions.

Efficiency

Proper duct design ensures that there’s enough airflow to maintain the efficiency of your heating and cooling system. By the same token, dirty air ducts do not allow for enough airflow. Don’t be scammed by a contractor who will charge you for sub-par services. There are many scams out there that offer cheaper or faster results, but you will not get the full benefit of the cleaning if it isn’t done properly.

Indoor Air Quality

In addition to improving overall home efficiency, duct cleaning can help improve indoor air quality. Ducts that are poorly designed can also impact indoor air quality. They can more easily get damaged or be installed in areas that are unfinished, and this creates the potential for common indoor air pollutants getting inside the air ducts and being redistributed throughout your home.

Extends the Life of Your Heating and AC System

When there’s enough airflow due to proper duct design or a duct cleaning service, then your heating and AC system doesn’t have to work as hard. This extends the life of the equipment and helps prevent premature replacements, as well as costly repairs. That saves you money in the long run!

Seattle Duct Cleaning FAQ: What Does Duct Cleaning Entail?

Monday, February 11th, 2013

Most people don’t think about their ducts—ever. But if you have a forced air heating and air conditioning system then all of the conditioned air in your home has to travel through your ducts. As the air passes through your ductwork it will pick up any contaminants and particles that are there. Those contaminants then get spread out and delivered through your home. At Bob’s Heating and Air Conditioning, we offer fast and professional duct cleaning in Seattle. We often get asked about the benefits of duct cleaning and what actually happens during the visit. We thought it would be a good idea to put together a short list of some of the things that our technicians will do when they visit your home.

How Duct Cleaning Works

Prior to your duct cleaning visit, it’s a good idea to make sure that any pets or children aren’t near the work being done. You may also want to move any furniture or obstacles are removed out of the path from the door to your HVAC system.

During the duct cleaning, the indoor air quality technicians will use high powered vacuums to remove contaminants that have built up in your ductwork. Sometimes, that involves cutting holes in certain parts of your ductwork and attaching vacuums to those areas as well. They will also thoroughly inspect all of your ducts and vents. Make sure that you work with a duct cleaning contractor that will respect your home by covering your furniture and valuables with tarps and cloth to protect them from any debris.

Benefits of Duct Cleaning in Seattle

Over time, the ducts in your Seattle home can start to get filled and clogged with dirt, dust and other debris. Having those contaminants vacuumed out by a professional contractor can have a positive impact on your home.

  • Air quality – Perhaps one of the main benefits for duct cleaning is that it has the potential to increase your home’s air quality. By cleaning out the pet dander, bacteria, dust and insect dropping out of your ductwork you could be able to improve the quality of air in your home.
  • Efficiency – As the air travel through your home’s ducts, any debris or blockages there can slow the flow of the air. This reduces the efficiency of your home’s heating and air conditioning system.

Bellevue Indoor Air Quality Tip: How Duct Cleaning Can Help with Allergies

Monday, January 28th, 2013

The condition of the ductwork in your Bellevue home can have a profound effect on your heating system, as well as the indoor air quality. If you or someone in your home suffers from chronic allergies, pollutants, such as dust, pollen, and pet hair, can make the symptoms worse. These irritants can easily get trapped in your ductwork and build up over time causing a number of problems. Call Bob’s Heating for duct cleaning in Bellevue today!

Duct cleaning can also improve the efficiency of your heating system because it ensures proper airflow.  Because the air ducts in your home deliver the heated air to every room in your home, spreading allergens is one way to exacerbate allergy symptoms. This is one reason that routine vacuuming can help, but won’t get your ducts and vents completely clean.

A professional duct cleaning service is a comprehensive cleaning of every square inch of the ductwork in your home.  Be sure to hire a contractor you can trust; unfortunately, there are many duct cleaning scams out there, and when they don’t do a good job, you end up paying more in the end to have someone come and do a proper job.

A duct cleaning service also allows the professional heating contractor an opportunity to look for damaged ductwork. If the ductwork was poorly designed or installed, you could have indoor air quality or efficiency issues.

Don’t hesitate to call the Bellevue indoor air quality experts at Bob’s Heating for honest and reliable duct cleaning services.
